KIRKUS REVIEW

Ashe, who makes weekly visits to a prison, secures a job for parolee Terry Booth with a nearby garage owner, Winter, to find that Booth is generally disliked as well as distrusted for his record- robbery and assault. Still Ashe is the last to believe that Booth is responsible for the murder of Winter's wife, and his stubborn speculations and theoretical assumptions secure a culprit the police have failed to find.... Not his best, by any means, but still better than most.
