KIRKUS REVIEW

The aftermath of an accident- while ""potholing""- sustains a clean line of suspense when Laurence Quiller, a Labour M.P., attempts to destroy the evidence of the death which occurred in an underground cavern due to his cowardice. His edgy evasions with his wife, his cumulative deterioration, and finally his hibernation underground are finally exposed when the police are alerted to the first crime, and his wife and her lover balk a last dangerous gesture....The direct urgency here and intelligent styling gives this its superiority.
