KIRKUS REVIEW

James Maguire, an archaeologist excavating in Ireland, agrees to the use of his site for a local pageant stimulating interest in its historic past but does not realize that it camouflages the attempt of a revolutionary organization to stage an uprising. With his wife and boys taken as hostages, Maguire's attempts to retrieve them and alert the authorities are ingenious. Not his best, but an old hand keeps its touch surprisingly fresh.
