THE PERPLEXED HEART by Angela du Maurier

THE PERPLEXED HEART

By

Publisher: Doubleday, Doran

Second rate, and if Angela du Maurier was not the sister-of Daphne, the book would not get to first base. A story of today -- of a woman driven by her passions -- of the perfunctory manner in which she twists means to her end, to get her man. There's variation in the types she selects, -- a socialist leader, a London playboy, a married Lothario, a clergyman running away from himself, an ex-convict, and a few young lads on the side -- quite a slate. London, the continent, southern England provide a shifting background for her amours. Slick style of writing -- not too well done.
