MALACHY'S GOLD

Malachy doesn't strike gold and this overplotted story doesn't pan out in pictures either. The last of the Forty-Niners, he's still looking but his burro Miranda is more than ready to give up, and an Indian boy, Little Owl, whose parents caught a fever from another prospector, refuses to give Malachy a helping hand when Miranda kicks him into a ravine. Intentionally. And laughs. Malachy does get out (Little Owl has a guilty conscience) but his spirit is broken and Miranda has her way: ""finally she was going to have a barn to call home."" Some stark scenes of the Sicrras, no giddyap and go.
