KIRKUS REVIEW

The stories of tea and coffee are treated as separate units but follow identical patterns. Large crystal clear photographs do most of the telling with full captions and brief paragraphs tucked in between supplying the verbal information. In tracing the tea leaf and the coffee berry from the plantation through the various necessary stages before it reaches the expert taster, we are not the eager followers of one little plant. Rather we view men and women at work during the specific stages of growth, processing, manufacture and shipment in Ceylon, Formosa, India, China, South America, Iran, Puerto Rico (to name only a few). A topic of limited concern treated in terms of maximum interest.
