THE STORY OF THE PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH

The beautiful lithographs and fascinating marginal drawings of C.H. DeWitt not only make this a handsome book but enhance, also, the vivid story it weaves of the migrations, the hardships and the sturdy pleasures of those early Dutch settlers of Pennsylvania. The differences and similarities in the many sects of the Plain People are clarified in a way I have not found in any juvenile. This book is not just another in Mr. DeWitt's fine series about the American Scene -- it is an illuminating and lustrous tie with the past.
