25 VEGETABLES ANYONE CAN GROW

By

Publisher: Crowell

The amateur's book, without any question, and one that many others will enjoy and use. Believing that the new gardener should aim at quality, not quantity, the author picks 25 vegetables and does a thorough job on each: its history, food value, culture, habits of growth, types and varieties, how much to buy, planting -- how and where, soil, cultivation and care, harvesting, canning and uses. This is supplemented by chapters on early seed raising indoors, sprays, fertilizers and insecticides, canning charts and tables, storing, etc. Maps give the average dates of the last killing frosts, garden plans. The suggestion that part of the garden be filled with flowers for cutting in the house will lure many a client into buying this book. The results should be amply rewarding to make them confirmed home vegetable addicts.
