Ann Landers is the advice-to-the-troubled writer for the Chicago Sun-Times and her column is syndicated in over 400 newspapers. Like her syndicated twin sister, Abigail Van Buren (Dear Abby), Ann Landers is read not only for the advice she dispenses on a multi of topics but primarily because her approach is breezy and her attitude is down-to-earth. She has written this book, she says, in response to her readers' requests and she deals with a variety of problem areas -- marital, extra-marital, money, in-laws, drinking, children, teen-agers, etc., etc., illustrating her point of view with samples of the letters she has received. If one doesn't question the basic assumption (presumption) of such a vehicle, there will be found nothing here that will outrage common sense and she is often amusing even if her examples are extreme. But her sister Abby is probably more ""entertaining"".
