WEDDINGS

Morris (Bread, Bread, Bread, 1989, etc.) describes universal and specific aspects of weddings around the world in captions of text and full-color stock photos. She captures the pageantry and excitment of the ceremony and celebration, but the pictures are more detailed (and much less polished) than those used in other titles in the series. They frequently show a blending of customs from several cultures: Thus a Japanese couple in traditional costume and a Navaho Indian couple are shown cutting a ""western-style,"" or multitiered, wedding cake. The illustrated index locates each scene and gives another fact about weddings or the culture shown. This title requires an older audience than an accompanying title, Shoes, Shoes, Shoes (0-688-13666-4), and is mostly useful for browsing or for jump-starting discussions.
