CANNING AND DRYING VEGETABLES & FRUITS

Here's an author after my own heart, for she seems always to be just enough ahead of me to spur me on to fresh effort (whether she writes of gardens or the kitchen); and yet not so far ahead but what I catch a kindred spark, a sense that she too is still an amateur, and having fun with what she's doing. This practical ABC for the home canner and preserver fits the needs of the average small-garden-small-household need. She gives adequate pros and cons of different methods, sound factual data on equipment, warnings of pitfalls, bits of factual whys and wherefores, and step by step procedure. There are charts with instructions, quantities, time element -- there are enough recipes for most needs.
