AUNTIE ROBBO

A lively, capricious and perhaps a touch daft story of 11-year old Hector and his high handed and high-hearted Auntie Robbie, 81 -- and of their haphazard odydsey across Scotland when they strike out for independence from Hector's imperious step-mother. They collect three Cockney children on route -- they are intercepted and escape again -- they buy a tinker's part and travel on -- and eventually they reach a haven in an island off the coast. Mischievous, engaging story -- vocabulary a bit beyond the age interest of the story, but enough story to carry it.
