Miss Stover's earlier books were really learning books- and immensely successful: Everybody Did. (1960- p. 451 J 177) and Why? Because- (1961- p. 534 J-184). This time she directs her very real talent and her understanding of children's interest to a nonsense tale, with a comfortable moral that to be happy you don't need to hold to a schedule or own everything around you or to control people's lives. So perhaps it is a learning book after all. Mr. Widdle might ave come to quite a different end if he hadn't had a wise little girl who helped him find out about himself.
