KIRKUS REVIEW

This volume in the HEROES OF GOD series brings us to a modern era and deal with the pioneers of the Home Missionary Movement,-Marcus Whitman and his wife Narcissa. The teen-agers for whom this series of biographies is designed find it difficult to realize that the great Northwest was once a wild and peril territory just a hundred years ago. Instead of airplane or express train the had to struggle over the plains and mountains by covered wagon. Instead of ful citizens the Whitmans encountered hostile Indians. Instead of on rushing mobiles they saw stampeding buffalos. It is a well told tale of two heroes martyrs of pioneer days.
