MR. THEOBALD'S DEVIL

By

Pub Date: Feb. 7th, 1935
Publisher: Morrow

Remember Mr. Thompson in the Attic -- two years back, and sheer delight? This has the same gentle and appealing humor, but, because of its greater length, perhaps, seems thinner in texture. Here is Mr. Theobald, whose personal devil causes things to disappear and drowns the shy curate in loneliness, but whose reign is at an end when Anne, sister to the gorgonlike Georgina, ruler of the village, takes a hand at steering Mr. Theobald into step with the rest of the world. For the audience that likes quiet humor, gently malicious -- and good writing.
