A vehicle for the advertisement of St. Thomas, this employs native color, authentic landmarks and actual local sites in an attempt to build a realistic background. Nevertheless, little can redeem this dull and unimaginative story, centered on the theft of an antique silver spoon from an auction in Charlotte Amalie. Several children and an old fisherman track down the thief, a poor beachcomber who planned to sell the treasure to a band of smugglers. Not a trace of mystery or adventure, not a twist of climactic event, distinguish this routine plot. Even the most unsophisticated 8-year-old will be bored.
