How a little boy lost, and a big elephant who grew up together in Africa, find new lives in America, will keep listeners or readers absorbed. T'wan Ka Baker Clark, 10, was the orphaned child of missionary parents who died in Africa of fever. With Old Bet, an elephant, he came to America and joined the Bailey Managerte. Tony Palazzo's large mellow pictures tell of America when an elephant was a curiosity and record a happy ending as the boy finds relatives in Somers, New York, where a statue of the real Old Bet stands to this day.
