DINNY GORDON JUNIOR

Dinny Gordon Sophomore (1961, p. 680, J-242) evidently passed her achievement tests, but in the story of her junior year, she and her friends are still far more interested in heavy dating than in heavy assignments. Curt, Dinny's trophy from the last title, is still around. He seems a bit shopworn and dull to the girl who now seeks new involvements. The question of anti-Semitism invades the endless conversation which passes for action among Dinny and her peers. It arrives with a new family in town. A brother and sister are cold-shouldered until Dinny helps solve the problem. The solution takes place at the social threshold rather than at another level of conviction and the chatter goes right back to boys. The group around Dinny is almost faceless. It is also solid. There are few absences from the crowded rooms where garbled gossip is the order of the day. Dinny has grown a bit, maybe her friends will, too. There's senior year coming...
