MINNIE: A Fairy Tale of the Present Day

Sprigged whimsy, with a few darker tints, this fairy tale seems not so much for the present day as for the Nathan-Gallico audience whom innocence disarms. Just like Minnie who ""had to start being young so late""--at forty in her ""scented kid gloves"" after she is liberated from her old and ugly guardians. Or did she liberate herself? there is that weed killer. But now in the flush of freedom and a fortune she is ready to live and love, one Freddie Chunk, who battens on women, who has a wife, and who is submerged, ultimately salvaged by the ""little lady."" A sugar bun, with a glint of the unexpected which ultimately dim--minishes into no more than a little diversion for other little ladies.
