KIRKUS REVIEW

An English light novel, some family, some problems, some romance, unimportant, pleasant reading. The family is that of the Rosses, and in Particular Gordn, the eldest son, with no regard for traditions or niceties and too much for money, and Nigel, gay, irresponsible and charming, an adopted son. The rub between the two is intensified by Lesley, whom both love, and whom Gordon marries after he successfully spirits Nigel out of the country. Nigel returns after eight years -- Lesley decides to go away with him (without benefit of clergy), and that night Gordon is killed, Nigel is suspect. Eventually he is acquitted. Adventitious plotting, without the facile touch of Stevenson, but a thoroughly readable light romance.
