BABY TALK by Anne Miranda

An appealing toddler and his parents explore from morning to night in this warm and satisfying flip book. The clean white spaces are swept of extraneous detail; important people and objects in the toddler's world are highlighted with softly bright colors. While the cardstock pages, and lighter-weight flaps may not survive forever, the charming vignettes provide a satisfying look at a toddler's everyday adventures. Daddy holds baby's hands: ""Big hug,"" reads the text. Lift the flap, and baby gets hugged. Mom sorts the wash on the floor: ""Where's the baby?"" Lift the flap and there is a delighted baby in the laundry basket. Mom, baby, and teddy sit with hands before their eyes: open the flaps and each can play peekaboo. Despite the book's somewhat fragile construction, these pictures tell stories that will be popular with toddlers and their parents.
