A pleasant, neighborly story with plenty of the Yuletide spirit. All seven Bracketts -- Father and Mother, Don and Dave, Dick, the Baby and Lucy -- found themselves parcelled out to neighbors when their house burned down. Finally the family moved to a temporary forest camp, and the children have all the fun the Maine woods in the winter has to offer -- wood animals, skiing, foresting-, but there would be no new house where they could have Christmas together and no special presents. Lucy writes a note on birch bark and ties it to a Christmas tree being sent to market. The results when the note reaches the neighbors instead of a far away purchaser of the tree, bring a brand new house and wonderful Christmas due to the close ties of cooperation and neighborliness.
