A sequel to the successful by Miss Coggins and Mr. Holt, the grand old man of the cinemas, this book has the same simple, easy style and sound information with a pleasant, happy story. Lance and his horse Star visit Billy Randolph on the Flying A Ranch. On the way Lance learns from his father that cowboys have different names for things, but when Lance meets the cowboys and feels at home on the ranch, he soon learns Western talk and the cowboy way of doing things.. Lance helps in ""cutting out"" cattle, goes to a moonlight barbecue, and does the rounds of the ranch with Billy. Finally Lance and Billy warn the cowboys just in time when they discover the steers have broken through the fence, and Lance has an exciting ride. Young readers may follow step-by-step with Lance in learning about the life on a Western ranch.
