WELCOME CHRISTMAS!

A thoughtful collection of carols and poems, old and new, familiar and unfamiliar, present the inner and spiritual meaning of Christmas as it has come down through the years. Inclusions like Thomas Hardy's The Oxen, Walter de la Mare's Nowel, Eerily Sweet by Elizabeth Coatsworth, and Luther's Cradle Hymn, suggest the quality of the anthology and indicate a lasting value. There are many readings to choose from, and line drawings by Valenti Angelo, whose own The Marble Fountain (1951) and The Bells of Bleecker Street (1949) are familiar, should make a very attractive book.
