THE MISSING WIDOW

Lawyer-investigator Arthur Crooks of London (and previous performances) involved this time in the case of Mrs. Emily Watson, widow, who seizes on the suggestion of a secluded spot in which to hide from a grasping nephew and friend- with designs on her fortune. Having escaped to the promised seclusion, Mrs. Watson finds it a trap, and it is only just in time that Crooks traces the initial suggestion to its source. The suspense here is jeopardized by recurrent asides to the reader- but Crooks operates with sufficient competence to sustain slow but steady interest.
