KIRKUS REVIEW

Hatty Savage has refused Richard Sheridan's proposal and his death puts her in an untenable position in the English village where there is no privacy. Her marriage to solicitor Cobb does not shield her from the victimization of Marguerite Gray, who is also tormenting Richard's aunt, and, Marguerite dead, Hatty is again under suspicion. Arthur Crook takes over and cleans off the slate with a flourish. Impervious.
