A sociologist steps into the medical field to rid the contemporary world of its foolish concepts concerning pregnancy, to normalize the function of childbirth, obliterating the false ideas connected with it, i.e. sacrifice, illness, fear and pain, believing, as he does that the lowered birthrate has necessitated this book. There is much controversial material here, and, though the points are simple and understandable most of the time, there is an unfortunate tendency towards too abundant quotation and citation pre and con which make this hard going for the layman.
