KIRKUS REVIEW

John Mannering, still with the threat of being exposed as the Baron, is now hewing to the respectable life but gets a chance at some remembered thrills when he tries to buy an antique shop. Before the deal is completed there are murders, smuggling, antique switching, and Mannering plays ball, in his fashion, with the Yard and reverts to second story techniques to wind up his adventures.
