DOWN COME THE TREES

What a surprise, after Delay In The Sun. Possibly the fact that this is a posthumous book accounts for it. In any case, here is a modern projection novel, the story of a machine-controlled city, with the urge to go higher and deeper and to tread yet more firmly on labor and the common people. And of a lone fanatic, an Albanian, who determines to crush progress and turn back the clock. Of how his ruse almost succeeds, but his own Frankenstein catches up with him, and virtually destroys him. Plot seems machine-made -- romance thin.
