When first met Sarah Trasker, a rather vague, fluffy type with a brace of husbands in her past, has reached Damascus where her brother John, a congenital failure, is attached to the Embassy. At the close, Sarah questions whether someone will have noted her disappearance (into the ""dormitory life"" of a harem) but she can't ""imagine who."" She may be right.... In between--there have been all kinds of political (a coup d'etal--Arab) and personal upheavals: and only toward the close does one realize that Sarah has been running away all her life, from her intimacies with brother John which began when they were children.... At best ephemera. Electra with Spring Byington.
