THE PIABTS OF POLAND

A satisfying book on Poland, its origin and history and the struggles of its people towards independence. The author has a decidedly liberal slant, but manages to make the book pro-Polish and yet not anti-Soviet. Lively modern reading, good historical background, with legends, culture and traditions briefly but succinctly handled. A much needed book for reference shelves as well as current history reading.
