SEE AGAIN, SAY AGAIN

A companion volume to See and Say (1955), this is another picture book in 4 languages. English is in black, Italian is in blue, French is in red and Spanish is in green. For each word in each language, a phonetic pronunciation is given. Nine years ago, our reviewer mentioned the fact that the picture book format would probably limit the use of the book to youngest readers. Since then, the well-traveled child has become far less of a rarity. The two books together provide a brief and simple introduction to the workaday words of three foreign languages. The bold and colorful block prints form an arresting backdrop which depict scenes to which the various groups of words apply. This should prove easy to use with non-readers and, in spite of the picture book format liability, older readers up to fourth and fifth grades should find this helpful.
