A book for women, primarily, in a story of gracious, gentle living among pleasant people in Tidewater Virginia today. A contemporary love story of Melody and Page, as Page, badly wounded and discharged from the RAF, returns to Virginia with a psycho-pathological impotence which brings Melody's family into opposition as she falls in love with him and wants to marry him. For a year even Melody's faith and love fails to jar him out of his condition of dispirited lethargy. But finally he turns to hard labor, and in marrying Melody achieves confidence in his recovery now that he no longer feels he is fighting alone. Romantic side plots fill out the major theme which is delicately handled. Upper grade rentals.
