FRANK FRISCH: The Fordham Flash

One of baseball's greats covers his career from the Fordham campus to the day before yesterday. Making the phenomenal jump from campus to the majors, he ran himself into the Hall of Fame as player for the N.Y. Giants and St. Louis Cardinals. His later chores such as managing the Priates, coaching and broadcasting, follow. Frisch views today's game as a retired drunkard regards whiskey. ""The old fire and snap has gone out of baseball"", he grumps. The syntax, most of it better than this, is provided by Mr. Stockton, a sports writer. Older fans are led down a nostalgic path spanning 40 years, but junior enthusiasts, interested in baseball history will enjoy this too.
