ACTION IN THE SKY

In this book of short stories, Arch Whitehouse covers flying of every sort, at war, in peace, from land and sea. Some of his characters are tough, others tender, some foolhardy, others sensible. The stories, filled with action and emotion are well-written and based on a firm knowledge of aviation and a sensitive understanding of people. However, Whitehouse, an expert on the subject of flying, too often assumes that his reader shares his knowledge. The aviation lingo, the descriptions and the technical terms show down the pace of the stories for the average render.
