KIRKUS REVIEW

A new volume of MacLeish poems is certain of immediate attention and a reasonable sale. This group consists of twenty new poems, the first third of which classify roughly under the title, with such sub-titles as Speech to the Detractors, Speech to a Crowd, The Lost Speakers. Personally, I found much more to my liking the group under the title The Woman On The Stair, which contains some of the finest poetic symbolism MacLeish has written.
