SECRET OF THE SLEEPING RIVER

A New York City, east side tenement, policeman-fathered family moves to the New Jersey countryside -- plays host to a stream of city friends and solves a mystery behind the rickety old farm house that is their new home. Once settled, a gypsy friend helps them build a television set. But then trouble with the F. B. I. materializes in the form of a coded television commercial as a signal for saboteur activity in the Sleeping River locality. There are some healthy digs at senseless commercials, and some warmly human situations between the family and the announcer who is the unwitting conveyor of the messages -- as all come together for a healthily scrappy showdown at the old farm house.
