KIRKUS REVIEW

The author of How To Be A Happy Woman (1952) provides a spring tonic with her refutation of the myth of the common man in a ""search for the lost individual in a collective world"". She deplores the contemporary rule of science and specialists over individuals, who are embarrassed to reveal emotion or intellect; she explores the question of conformity, the cult of ""life adjusters"" and asks who will change our society (is it perfect?) if we all comply. A joyous call to individual expression in a surrounding society which benefits from the best in each of us, by an author who brings many ideas and illustrations to her theme.
