A very attractive looking book- good layout- delightful illustrations in spots, borders, full pages, by Cornelis, some in full color, some in black and white. Amazing amount of information, not too drily told, packed into comparatively brief space, and covering a general outline of our history, with bits of biography, way of life, inventions, etc. The big question is this- how much information sticks when not expanded with color, anecdote, detail? To what end a mere outline knowledge of history, other than impetus to further study? However, it should stimulate some degree of interest in children otherwise apathetic on the subject.
