ISLAND OF MYSTERY

Pub Date: Dec. 6th, 1977
Publisher: Little, Brown

An instant-pudding diversion featuring unflavored writer Alison, who travels to beautiful Windswept Island to research a biography of deceased composer Thordsen, who lived and worked in what is now Greenwood Inn--where Alison boards. By day Alison piles up gossip about her composer and is courted by three attractive young men; at night she vibrates to eerie noises, sobs, and garbled speech echoing in her bedroom. The real mystery here is why neither Alison nor anyone else seems to have figured out why the old man in a nearby cottage is so rigorously guarded by his young wife and a fierce butler. But then, Alison's rather a dodo--who will be tolerated only by Hale's hearty following.
