... begins a series of imaginative dialogues between two children, each one trying to top the other's fantasies, which include an elephant in the barn, a giraffe in the garage, an apple tree growing popcorn balls, and lobsters flying in the sky. The large print and simple vocabulary make this book a good choice for early readers, who may, however, be a little confused by the lack of identification of the speakers. The brightly colored illustrations show a cheerful blend of the imaginary superimposed on the real.
