JUDY OF THE ISLANDS

Legend and lore and native life of the Hawalian Islands more than fully supplement this highhearted story of Judy, shipwrecked, and Captain Bill, the trader who adopts her. Judy adopts a pig and a native baby, cleans up and brightens up Captain Bill's ship, reforms his drunken cook Doghouse, helps Captain Bill to outsmart his crooked rival, foils a doughty great grandmother who wants her to go back to Sydney, and eventually finds her mother, who had also been cast adrift in the shipwreck. Market, similar to the author's Pam's Paradise--background and action in happy balance.
