HUMAN SPIRIT AND HOLY SPIRIT

This word Spirit can cause a lot of confusion in our day when so many conflicting theories of the nature of human existence are striving for a hearing, and the author does a great, and scholarly, service in bringing order to the term Spirit whether considered from the manward or the godward side. He is fully appreciative of the insights of Kierkegaard and the many since influenced by him, and he is aware of the need for understanding the contributions of non-religious personal psychology to the discussion. However, the bulk of the interpretation has real Scriptural foundations, which will appeal especially to scholars equipped to follow the clear lines of reasoning. Curiously, the book concentrates its bulk on Human Spirit, and from that beginning makes the great plunge to an appreciation of Holy Spirit as the comprehending source, life and function within Whom the Human Spirit acquires existence and purpose. This is no book for the average layman, but a thoroughly challenging work that should be considered by those charged with making the life of God and man real to congregations or students.
