KIRKUS REVIEW

Will the Arctic fox become Peter's pet or will he go back to the wild? Brought home as a cub by Peter's trapper father, Niki is docile. When he and the boy are trapped in a tree-house by wolves (the especially fierce Three-Toes among them), the fox distracts them so the boy can escape, then stops in at their cabin for a last farewell: he's wild but not unfeeling. No snow job--just dry and inadequately developed, and the generalized illustrations are weak.
