In a breathless, intense whine that sort of reminds one of Howard Cosell, Hano damns Kareem Abdul Jabbar with faint praise -- not his playing so much as the ""no comment"" aloofness decreed by the managers of his career. At least this bridges the gap between Sports Shelf rhetoric and common gossip. But, ""enough of these laurels"" -- Hano's style is enough to make you swallow your tongue.
