KIRKUS REVIEW

Some far fetching as the Horton cousins (two manly twelves and one grown-up eight) go all the way back to the 1846 legend of hidden family treasure hoping to help Uncle Eb who's got money trouble at his Marina, and all the way up into the skull of an ornamental whale to find the fabled jewel. It's really visiting cousin Peter who pieces the puzzling clues together--when he's not working at the Marina with host-cousin Mike, joining Mike's friends in tree-housing, out-bullying some big bad boys, and worrying about his father whose sudden injury in Japan brought about the stay in Whaler's Cove, Long Island. Which is such a nice place that you'd be willing to fetch up there.
