Mostly for showing and most welcome to teachers, Mr. Spilka's message is ""feel free"". His advice to the youngest brush wielders is completely permissive-- paint everything or anything, but get what you feel in there-- and his pictures show how. He never makes the mistake of imitating the small amateurs' earnest but crude attempts at art. Moreover in both color and black and white, he has kept his shapes simple and his brush active. Excellent as a suggestion/discussion book for early artists.
