Bether full color illustrations are skillful, sharp and delightful, but not wholly related to a somewhat saccharine text for which they compensate admirably. But not quite enough to change the market which will necessarily be a somewhat sentimental one. Mr. is loved by all the local children in his neighborhood because his smile makes them laugh. Imagine their mutual despair when he wakes one morning to find the smile gone. He looks everywhere, in and out of his house, in the trunk, is a baby's crib, on a tear-stained smiling boy's face in church and so on until he finds his smile again....For the lavendar legions.
