BE LOVED NO MORE

The biography of a woman who lived too long -- Fanny Burney, whose Evelina was among the first of the English novels of family life and a decided influence on English letters, but whose death went unnoticed by a generation that did not remember her...Self-educated, knowing the famous people of her time, reputedly loved by Reynolds and others, a member of the Court, she lived a full life and, once again, has subdued her biographer into admiration. There is nothing new, critically or interpretatively, but it is comprehensive insofar as factual retelling goes.
