KNOW YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY

A simplification and itemization of what social security means to you- as an employee, an employer, or a self-employer, and as a citizen- for over and above the personal benefits involved there are larger issues which affect the economy of the country. For the employee, how to get insured status, pension benefits, insurance benefits, how to determine your rates, how to preserve your rights during disability, and the relation of this form of insurance with others (unemployment, etc.) is explained; the employer will want to know what he should do, what type of employee is eligible, the special rules which govern certain professions, what wages are taxable... For all concerned, and almost everybody is, this is a practical guide and certainly libraries will want to have it on hand for consumer consultation.
